Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is CaliMob?

CaliMob is a cloud-based book library management platform. It syncs your personal e-book collection between Calibre (desktop), the web, and mobile devices. Think of it as your personal library, everywhere.

How does sync work?

CaliMob uses a Calibre plugin to connect your local Calibre library to the cloud. When you sync, book metadata (titles, authors, tags, ratings, etc.) and optionally e-book files are uploaded to your CaliMob account. Changes made on any device are merged automatically on the next sync.

Which e-book formats are supported?

CaliMob supports all formats that Calibre supports, including EPUB, PDF, MOBI, AZW3, CBZ, CBR, FB2, and more. The built-in web reader supports EPUB, PDF, and CBZ/CBR natively. Other formats can be downloaded and opened in your preferred reader app.

Account & Pricing

Is CaliMob free to use?

Yes! CaliMob offers a free tier that includes metadata sync for a limited number of books. Paid plans unlock additional features like cloud file storage, AI-assisted metadata enrichment, and higher book limits. See our Pricing page for details.

Can I change or cancel my plan at any time?

Absolutely. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of the current billing period. Your data is preserved for 30 days after cancellation.

Sync & Devices

How many devices can I sync?

There is no limit on the number of devices. You can install the Calibre plugin on multiple computers and access the web interface from any browser. Each device is registered via a secure device token.

What happens if there's a sync conflict?

If the same book is modified on two devices before syncing, CaliMob detects the conflict and presents both versions. You can choose to keep the server version, the client version, or resolve the conflict manually from the Conflicts page in your dashboard.

Does CaliMob work offline?

The Calibre plugin works offline — you can continue using Calibre normally and sync when you have an internet connection. The mobile and web apps require a connection to load content, but downloaded books are available offline in the mobile app.

Features

What AI features does CaliMob offer?

CaliMob includes AI-powered features such as automatic metadata enrichment (finding missing covers, descriptions, and tags), smart book recommendations, and AI-assisted reading notes. AI features use credits included with paid plans, with optional top-ups available.

How do AI credits work?

Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance of AI credits that reset on your billing date. Credits are consumed when you use AI features (chat with a book, generate summaries, smart search). If you need more, you can purchase top-up packs that never expire. Free plans include a small number of credits to try the feature. See our Terms of Service for full details on fair use.

Can I get a refund on AI top-up credits?

Yes, unused top-up credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase, minus any credits already consumed. If you've used more than 50% of a pack, no refund is available. Contact support to request a refund.

Can I export my library data?

Yes. CaliMob supports exporting your library in multiple formats: standard CSV, Goodreads-compatible CSV, and JSON. You can export from the Import/Export section of your dashboard. Your data is always yours.
