OPDS Reader for Android & iOS — CaliMob for Calibre, Komga, Kavita
Looking for an OPDS reader for Android (or iPhone)? CaliMob connects to any OPDS catalog — Calibre Content Server, Calibre-Web, Komga, Kavita, Stump, public libraries — downloads titles over OPDS, and opens them in a built-in reader for EPUB, PDF, comics (CBZ/CBR), and audiobooks. Free on Google Play and the App Store.
What OPDS is (in one sentence)
OPDS (Open Publication Distribution System) is an open Atom/HTTP catalog format: your phone browses a library URL, searches, and acquires files without a proprietary API. If your server exposes /opds (or similar), any OPDS client can use it.
How to add an OPDS catalog in CaliMob
- Open CaliMob → Add library → OPDS.
- Paste the catalog URL (and username/password if the server requires Basic auth).
- Browse, search, download — then read in-app.
No catalog handy? Use the built-in Demo Library (public-domain books via OPDS) to try the flow first.
Works with common self-hosted stacks
- Calibre Content Server — enable the server in Calibre; use its OPDS URL from CaliMob.
- Calibre-Web / CWA — OPDS endpoint from your instance.
- Komga / Kavita / Stump — comics and ebook servers that speak OPDS; point CaliMob at their catalog URL.
- Public OPDS catalogs — Project Gutenberg–style feeds and other open catalogs.
OPDS vs Wireless Device vs cloud folders
OPDS is ideal when you already run a catalog server (or Content Server). On the same Wi‑Fi as desktop Calibre, you can also use Wireless Device (Connect/Share). Away from home, cloud folders (Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, WebDAV, FTP/SFTP) sync a full Calibre library folder. CaliMob supports all of these.
